DEVLOG #2 - ITS ALIVE!
SO... WHAT'S NEWS?
Well, I'm happy to say the Hurler is officially up and moving! Whilst progress up until now has been a bit slow, I finally have a (very) work in progress movement script all fully animated. I have also created a Cinemachine camera to follow the player around the level. Along with this, a demo of the movement will be able to be found on the Hell Hurler itch.io page some time after this Devlog is released.
At the moment I'm making use of a old tutorial sprite sheet for my terrain. due to the nature of the sheet i made, the tiles struggles to make rooms that aren't made of four walls, with anything not rectangular missing edges and overall just not looking very polished. This, along with some collider issues means it's back to the drawing board for the time being.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The next steps going forward are..
Hurler needs some monsters to maim, so this week ill be focusing on creating some creepy cannon fodder.
- Make a throwing script that aims towards the mouse cursor. The plan is that this will make combat a bit more kinetic, fast and fluid, rather then the clunky shooting style seen in the past practicals.
- Edit the existing movement script to have some inertia when stopping movement. Hell Hurler is meant to be based on speed and dodging. the player should be able to feel that.
- Redo the Sprite Sheet for the terrain in 32x32 rather than 64x64
PATCH NOTES
- Hell Hurler has a WIP movement script with corresponding animation controller
- Slowed down Idle animation by half
- Added colliders to wall tiles
- Cinemachine 2D digital camera now follows Hurler around the level.
- Demo of movement released on Hell Hurler page for download.
